Taxes and energy costs — I agree, they’re out of control.
We live in the NYS Assembly District 95 of Westchester and Putnam — beautiful counties with top-notch schools, gorgeous open spaces, a beautful riverfront and great access to New York City. I’ve never minded paying a little more for this quality of life, but what we’re paying in taxes and electricity along with uncontrolled spending, is simply unsustainable. Make no mistake, the elected democrats at every level have caused our "affordability" crisis. For decades, their polices have done absolutely nothing to help New Yorkers. From
AFFORDABILITY pretty much encompasses everything
My opponent’s idea of affordability is to just build more affordable housing - anywhere and everywhere. Mine is to make life itself affordable — by restoring fiscal sanity. This means scrutinizing our state budget, cutting waste and fraud, and controlling our spending.
THE BUDGET
NY Democrats have a pattern of taxing us instead of reducing spending and being fiscally responsible. We must live within our means just like we do in our own households.
State audit including every department as well as counties
Audit all social services to find and eliminate fraud
Eliminate all funding for illegal aliens
Break up energy monopolies
No county bailouts
Control spending
Prudent fiscal planning
Restore fiscal sanity
ensure our district gets the funding it has been promised and deserves, especially for infrastriucture
HOUSING
no affordable housing quotas mandated by the state or county
no take over of local zoning or reimaging neighborhoods
limit big business from buying single family homes
Gov. Kathy Hochul is pushing a plan to build more housing in the state by overriding restrictive suburban zoning laws, but the move faces pushback from municipal leaders who say it smacks of government overreach.Under Hochul's plan, downstate New York counties would have to add 3% more new affordable housing units every three years.
They want to be able to put an apartmanet building anywhere.
They want to engineer your neighborhoods.
Laurie: Affordability should mean local zoning, allowing seniors to remain in their homes and consider affordability for the area workforce.

TAXES

return NYSERDA excess to New Yorkers
eliminate school taxes for single family home owners 65 and older
reduce ConEd's property taxes which have skyrocketd from $8 to over $1.3 billion contingent upon those saving being refelcted in lower delivery ansd usage rates

I will oppose forcing an all-electric mandate that we simply can’t afford or support with our current infrastructure. These Green policies have proven finacially disastrous to New Yorkers. This leads to rising costs on EVERYTHING: transportation, construction, food, goods and the list goes on. I will also incvestigate the legality of monopolies on energy.
Our gasoline prices vary from station to station. I will question price practices, frasud and gouging.
.
That’s real affordability — practical, fair, and focused on the citizens of New York.
